International sundial painted
International sundial painted between two windows, taking up the window frames and the colors of the facade.
International sundials are those that show in their dials the passage of the sun on the meridians of various places around the world. As in the case of this dial, which in addition to showing the true solar time of its place and the passage of the sun on its meridian – on the vertical line of the XII highlighted with an arrow and the letter M – also indicates the passage of the sun on the meridians of various cities positioned further east – in the morning – and west – in the afternoon.
In practice, when the shadow of the gnomon passes over the star placed near the name of the place, it indicates the passage of the sun on the relative meridian and the instant of true noon of that given place.
